What material is carbon fiber?

It is composed of flake graphite microcrystals and other organic fibers stacked along the axial direction of the fiber, after carbonization and graphitization treatment. The main raw materials of carbon fiber include acrylic fiber and viscose fiber, which are made by high temperature oxidation and carbonization process. Carbon fiber has many excellent properties, such as high strength, low density, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, electrical conductivity, etc. Composition and manufacturing process of carbon fiber

The manufacturing process of carbon fiber includes the following steps:

Pre-oxidation: The organic fiber is heated in the air and maintained at 200-300 degrees for tens to hundreds of minutes to transform the linear molecular chain of polyacrylonitrile into a heat-resistant ladder structure.

Carbonization: heating to 1200-1600 degrees in an inert atmosphere and maintaining it for several minutes to tens of minutes to generate product carbon fiber.

Graphite: Further heating to 2000-3000 degrees in an inert atmosphere, maintaining a few seconds to tens of seconds to generate graphite fibers.
